 아요/어요/여요(해요)

It is a polite informal ending form attached to verb or adjective stem to express the present tense of the sentence.

It is used in conversation with close friends.

When a verb or adjective stem ends in 아,오, -아요 is attached. When it ends in 어,우,으,이, -어요 is attached. When it ends in 하다, -여요 is attached. The form 하+여요 is shorten to -해요.

수애는 6시에 일어나요.

드라마가 재미없어요.

영희 씨가 신문을 읽어요.

철수는 오전에 공부를 해요.

가: 수애 씨, 몇 시에 자요?

나: 저는 밤 10시에 자요.

가: 수박이 많아요?

나: 아니요, 수박이 적어요.
